MRS. JOSEPH B. MAKOUSKY

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, May 11, 1955, at 1:30 p. m. at the New Zion Presbyterian church for Mrs. Jos. B. Makousky, who passed away May 9th at the Schuyler Memorial hospital where she had been taken early Monday morning. After a prolonged illness lasting more than a year she finally succumbed to the heavenly messenger at the age of 52 years, 9 months, 4 days. Dr. John E. Filinger delivered the sermon. Burial was made in the Bohemian National cemetery.

Mrs. Makousky, whose maiden name was Marie Koci, was born in Clarkson on August 5, 1902 to the late Helena and Frank C. Koci.

A graduate of Clarkson public and high schools in the class of 1920. She chose teaching as her profession and after her graduation taught country schools in the Howells and Milligan communities.

She spent some time on the sales force of the Chleboun Bros. Store prior to her marriage. On August 10, 1926 she and her fiance, Joseph B. Makousky, slipped away quietly to be married at Omaha. They established their home in Clarkson where Mr. Makousky in partnership with his brother, Edward, were in the Men’s Clothing business.

Their marriage was blessed by three children, Richard, Carol and Joseph R, and she never tired of her dutes of being a good mother to all of them. Many times making personal sacrifices so her children could have the things important to them in their growing years.

She was a good wife and good naturedly and patiently took both the good and the bad that life had to offer. She was a shining example to those who knew her.

Surviving are her husband, Jos. B. Makousky; three children, Richard, Carol and Joseph R; five sisters, Agnes (Mrs. Joe Maly of Lincoln); Hegina (Mrs. Will Kral, Tobias); Hedvika, Lincoln; Mrs. Lotte Combs, Friend Helena (Mrs. Joe Plisek, Shelby); six nieces, Arlene Maly, Mrs. Joe Safark, Marjorie Kral of Lincoln, Mrs. Wm. Krohn of Balboa, California, one nephew, Paul Combs of Lincoln; 8 great nieces and nephews and fourteen cousins.

Pallbearers were Tom Bos, Bohumil Beran, Lad Hanel, Wm. Kral, Joe P. Safarik and Clyde Karel.

Those from a distance attending the burial were Mrs. Mary Bures, Mrs. Adolph Telecky of Howells, Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Plisek of Schuyler, Mr. and Mrs. George Kominek of Madison.
