MEYER, BALTHASAR HENRY, American economist, born in Mequon, Wis. Studied at Berlin, Germany, and finished his education at University of Wisconsin. Taught sociology and political economy, then, in 1905, became chairman of Railroad Commission of Wisconsin. He was a member of the U. S. Railroad Securities Commission in 1910, and in 1911 was appointed member of Interstate Commerce Commission. He is the author of “Railway Legislation in the United States” (1903) and “A History of the Northern Securities Case” (1906).
