Decision of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress on Conferment of National Medals and Honorary Titles

(Adopted at the 13th Meeting of the Standing Committee of the Thirteenth National People's Congress on September 17, 2019)

In commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, for the purpose of honoring eminent people who have made outstanding contributions to the building and development of the New China and carrying forward the national spirit and the spirit of the times, and in accordance with the Constitution of the People's Republic of China and the Law of the People's Republic of China on National Medals and National Honorary Titles, the Standing Committee of the Thirteenth National People's Congress has decided at its 13th Meeting as follows:

1. To award the Medal of the Republic to:

Yu Min, Shen Jilan (Female), Sun Jiadong, Li Yannian, Zhang Fuqing, Yuan Longping, Huang Xuhua, and Tu Youyou (Female);

2. To award the Friendship Medal to:

Raul Castro Ruz (Cuba), Maha Chakri Sirindhorn (Female, Thailand), Salim Ahmed Salim(Tanzania), Galina Veniaminovna Kulikova (Female, Russia), Jean-Pierre Raffarrin (France), and Isabel Crook (Female, Canada); 

3. To award national honorary titles as follows:

To award the title of People's Scientist to Ye Peijian, Wu Wenjun, Nan Rendong (Manchu Ethnicity), Gu Fangzhou, and Cheng Kaijia;

To award the title of People's Educator to Yu Yi(Female), Wei Xinghua, and Gao Mingxuan; 

To award the title of People's Artist to Wang Meng, Qin Yi (Female), and Guo Lanying (Female);

To award the title of People's Hero to Aireti Mamuti (Uygur Ethnicity), Shen Liangliang, Mai Xiande, and Zhang Chao;

To award the title of People's Role Model to: Wang Wenjiao, Wang Youde (Hui Ethnicity), Wang Qimin, Wang Jicai, Burumaham Maoleduo (Female, Kirgiz Ethnicity), Zhu Yanfu, Li Baoguo, Duguimaa (Female, Mongolian Ethnicity), and Gao Derong (Dulong Ethnicity);

To award Raidi (Tibetan Ethnicity) the title of Outstanding Contributor to Ethnic Solidarity;

To award Tung Chee-Hwa the title of Outstanding Contributor to the "One Country Two Systems";

To award Li Daoyu the title of Outstanding Diplomat; and 

To award Fan Jinshi the title of Outstanding Contributor to the Protection of Cultural Relics. 

The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress calls the Chinese people of all ethnic groups to rally even closer around the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind, remember and vigorously disseminate the meritorious deeds of the winners of national medals and honorary titles, take them as role models, be enterprising and work hard, to make greater contributions to the decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all aspects, the success of socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, and the realization of the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
