CHOLMLEY, WILLIAM (d. 1554), was a grocer of London, whose will was proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury in 1564. His interesting political treatise ‘The Request and Suite of a True-hearted Englishman,’ written in 1553, was edited by W. J. Thoms from the original manuscript in the library of the Faculty of Advocates of Edinburgh and printed in vol. ii. of the ‘Camden,’ 1853. It is largely quoted by Mr. Froude.
