English: This is the New York Tribune's printing of a speech given by Senator Jefferson Davis to the Mississippi State Democratic Convention in Jackson, MS on July 6, 1859. In it he expounds upon slavery, advocated re-opening the slave trade, advocates the seizure of Cuba, and threatens disunion and war if a Republican is elected to the Presidency the next year.
