Description
English: A paper delivered by Captain W. Eaton to the Royal Geographical Society of Australasia, Queensland, and subsequently published in the Proceedings and transactions of the Royal Geographical Society of Australasia, Queensland, vol. 20.
Captain Eaton discusses the history of exploration including famous explorers such as Vasco di Gama, Diaz and Drake, together with maps and map making back to the time of Ptolomey. He then details a brief account of the career of Abel Janszoon Tasman, a Dutch explorer, navigator and cartographer whose discoveries placed him among the world's great seamen.
