Index talk:Catalogue of books suitable for a popular library.djvu

Latest comment: 8 years ago by ShakespeareFan00

This book is very problematic; An editor has created a template to assist with the formatting of entries, but a large number of oversights has lead to editing being impossible in some cases. Entries have duplicated periods, and it is impossible to create book titles with periods enclosed inside parentheses. The Entirety of this work has been falsely validated in places, and will require additional proofreading. Legofan94 (talk) 17:03, 10 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

because of your comments I've removed the code that adds the period on titles. Perhaps you would like to spend the time adding them ALL back on the entries where they were omitted because the template was adding them? ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 22:30, 10 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
I've Run into an additional problem, Page 24 requires a template not currently included, The author is listed in bold, but another name follows before the title, in parentheses. It's not as simple as treating it all as an elongated name, since that only produces boldface text. I suggest that the template |author_suffix be coded. All it needed was an override |author = using {{ci-author}} directly :) ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 21:30, 20 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

@ShakespeareFan00: Could you help me with an explanation of the template used—specifically how to link Titles and Authors. I gather from {{CBSPL entry}} that to link a title with a name different from that listed, we use |link=. Does this mean that the Title |title= will automatically link if it is the same as the WS title? And the same for authors but with |author= ? Please note I am not technically literate but am learning by diffusion… Cheers, Zoeannl (talk) 04:37, 28 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Title should link automatically if the WikiSource title is the same. Similarly for authors if the correct syntax is used.ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 11:32, 28 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
namely if using author , you should follow the documentaion at {{ci-author}} putting that template call in the |authour= paramater. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 11:33, 28 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
should the |firstname= be changed to full names from initials if I have linked to the author page? Zoeannl (talk) 05:36, 29 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

| If you have the FULL name, I would suggest entering both the author= field (with {{ci-author using the initial field) and the first/last name fields using the expanded form you found. Firstname,, lastname are search aids, where as Author is the actual display/link. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 10:21, 30 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

I have determined that the title must end in a "." or the template adds a "." to the link. So for Charles Erskine’s entry: Twenty years before the mast. becomes Twenty years before the mast and Twenty years before the mast becomes Twenty years before the mast. on the pagespace. Hmmm... It shouldn't be. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 10:21, 30 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
If you have a different name, but which is clearly the identified work, use the Link paramter of {[tl|CBSPL entry}}. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 10:25, 30 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Can do. I haven't encountered many titles to link to, that weren't already. "Twenty years before the mast" did my head in until I saw it had an added "." Zoeannl (talk) 23:12, 30 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

P. 113 has been proofread without the template. Perhaps if it were converted, I could validate it? Zoeannl (talk) 23:12, 30 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Feel free to convert the page if you feel confident with the template.ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 23:33, 30 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
