Missing pages

edit

The first few pages seem correct apart from still having the initial Google page, though djvu page 20 is numbered 17 rather than 7 (the text's right though), but pages are missing between pages 32 (19) & 33 (22), 40 (29) & 41 (32), 52 (43) & 53 (46), 68 (61) & 69 (64) and 140 (135) & 141 (138). --xensyriaT 19:39, 25 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

The Google Book I got this from (and the Internet Archive upload I made from it, the only one I can find) lacks the pages, and the two other Google Books copies I could find seem to be "no preview". I should be able to get scans of the missing pages at the BL though, hopefully in the new year, and have a copy of the text (a 2008 edition) but will hold off proofreading until the file's fixed. --xensyriaT 20:25, 25 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
Fwiw... I've tweaked the original GooBoo .PDF by removing the watermarks and inserting blank position-holders for the missing scan pages. It can be found at File:Ernest.pdf.
I don't know how fluent you are with the Internet Archive system but rather than having me create another entry for the same (flawed) book, I was hoping you can take the modified .PDF and substitute it for your original upload there - deleting the first batch of files created and re-running a fresh derive in the process. This should at least get us a structure-sound .DjVu file in the end to replace the current one on Commons with.

Please note that the Google disclaimer page should only be removed from the finished .DjVu file & not from the base .PDF. This allows the internal DjVu file naming structure to align with it's file positioning 1-to-1 (otherwise everything is off by +1 and that makes text layer / page replacement problematic in certain cases).

Anyway the point is to recycle the current IA entry for the work (if possible) with the modified PDF I uploaded here on en.WS and I can take it from there. Either way let me know. -- George Orwell III (talk) 00:23, 10 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Done. Thanks for doing this! --xensyriaT 06:16, 21 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
