Per information on the djvu file in commons, these are letters from physician J. Marion Sims, then of Montgomery, Alabama, to Reverend William Jarvis of Portland, Connecticut. The letters concern the treatment of Dr. George O. Jarvis, also of Portland, who fell ill while traveling in Alabama. Date range is February 20 - April 7, 1848.
