First published anonymously in The Reflector of 26 February 1888 under the title "Trois Triolets Ollendorfiens," the piece was republished in the "Things One Would Rather Have Expressed Differently, Errors of Judgment and Impromptus" section of Lapsus Calami, "Triolets Ollendorfiens" was followed in the third edition by "On the Fly-Leaf of Maclise's Portrait Gallery."
