Anderson, Robert, LL.D. Trin. Coll., Dublin, of the Home Office, Whitehall, since 1858, of the Irish Office, London, 1867-8, secretary to Prison Commission since 1878, secretary to Royal Merchant Shipping Commission Nov., 1884, assisted in the Irish state trials 1867, author of Prison Acts 1865, 1877, a student of the Middle Temple 30 April, 1860, called to the bar there 30 April, 1870, bar.-at-law King's Inns, Dublin, Trinity, 1863 (3rd son of Matthew Anderson, of Dublin, crown solicitor for city and county of Dublin); born 29 May, 1841; married 4 March, 1873, Agnes Alexandrina, sister of Ponsonby William Moore, Esq., cousin and heir presumptive to the Marquis of Drogheda, in the earldom of Drogheda (see Foster's Peerage).
