Batten, Edmund Chisholm, M.A., author of Specific Performance of Contracts, joint author of Equity in County Courts, J.P. Somerset and Inverness, assumed the additional surname of Chisholm by royal licence 1859, a student of the Inner Temple 1 May, 1838, called to the bar there 10 June, 1842, admitted a barrister of Lincoln's Inn ad eundem 5 Feb., 1849 (2nd son of John Batten, Esq., of Yeovil, Somerset); born 3 Nov., 1817; married Aug., 1843, Jemima, only sister of late D. Chisholm, of Erchless, Inverness, and has issue.
