Portsmouth since 1874, a student of the Inner Temple 19 April, 1851 (then aged 26), called to the bar 9 June, 1854 (4th son of Thomas, 7th earl of Elgin and 11th earl of Kincardine); born 15 Feb., 1825; married 19 Nov., 1863, Sarah Caroline, eldest dau. of Thomas Thornhill, Esq., of Riddlesworth Hall, Norfolk, and has issue (see Foster's Peerage).
