Leicester, author of Practical Treatise on the Law of Elections, a student of the Inner Temple 16 April, 1883 (then aged 22), called to the bar 11 June, 1841, Q.C. 22 Feb., 1868, bencher 28 April, 1868, treasurer 1884–5 (3rd son of Sir George Clerk, Bart., of Penicuik, Midlothian); born 16 April, 1816; married 9 Dec., 1845, Rose Alice Clothilde, 2nd dau. of Thomas Greene, Esq., of Whittington Hall, co. Lancaster, and has issue (see Foster's Baronetage and Foster's Our Noble and Gentle Families).
