Rutland, high sheriff 1867, chairman of quarter sessions since 1882, lord of the manors of Lyndon, Aslackby, and Dowsby, co. Lincoln, a student of the Inner Temple 4 Nov., 1840 (then aged 20), called to the bar 6 June, 1845 (eldest son of John Edward Conant, Esq., of London); born 15 May, 1820; married 27 Aug., 1844, Gertrude Mary, 2nd dau. of Rev. Charles Proby, canon of Windsor; she died 27 March, 1866, leaving issue.
