New Inn Hall, Oxon, major 1st royal Devon yeomanry cavalry since 1882, a student of the Inner Temple 9 Nov., 1861 (then aged 25), called to the bar 17 Nov., 1864 (eldest son of Rev. and Hon. Henry Hugh Courtenay, of Mamhead, Devon); born 20 Jan., 1836; married 12 June, 1862, Lady Evelyn Pepys, youngest dau. of Charles Christopher, 1st earl of Cottenham, and has issue (see Foster's Peerage).
