Halliday, William Halliday, M.A., Balliol Coll., Oxon, 1855, J.P. Somerset, a chairman of quarter sessions Devon, J.P., D.L., high sheriff 1882, assumed the surname of Halliday in lieu of his patronymic Cosway by royal licence in 1872, a student of Lincoln's Inn 28 Oct., 1854 (then aged 26), called to the bar 26 Jan., 1858 (only son of Sir William Richard Cosway, late of Biloughton, Kent, Knt., dec.); born , 1828; married 24 May, 1860, Margaret, youngest dau. of late Sir Thomas Harvie Farquhar, Bart., and has issue (see Foster's Baronetage).
