Coll., London, 1864, and a member of Convocation, vice-president of Asiatic Society of Japan, educated at St. Servais Coll., Liége, and City of London School, a student of the Inner Temple 5 Nov., 1863 (then aged 21), called to the bar 6 June, 1866 (6th son of James Hannen, Esq., of Maidenhead, dec.); born 21 Aug., 1842; married , 1869, Jessie Maria Harriette, eldest dau. of late James Woodhouse, Esq., of Henley-on-Thames.
