Sir Adolphus Frederic Octavius, K.C.B., Q.C., permanent under-secretary of state for home department sinee 1867, M.A. (fellow), All Souls' Coll., Oxon, 1844, B.A., Christ Church, Oxon, 1S39, an Etonian, K.C.B. 20 April, 1880, a student of the Inner Temple 23 Jan., 1840, called to the bar 30 Jan., 1844, Q.C. 25 Feb., 1861, bencher 30 April, 1861, treasurer 1875 (8th son of Thomas Henry, 1st Lord Ravensworth); born 15 Jan., 1818; married 14 Oct., 1845, Frederica Elizabeth, youngest dau. of George Lane-Fox, Esq., of Bramham, Yorks; she died 29 Nov., 1867, leaving issue (see Foster's Peerage).
