Lopes, (Hon.) Sir Henry Charles, Knt. (28 Nov., 1876), a justice of Queen's Bench Division of High Court of Justice since 1879, of the Common Pleas Division 1876-9, recorder of Exeter 1867-76, M.P. Launceston 1868-74, Frome 1874-6, J.P., D.L. Wilts and Somerset, educated at Winchester, B.A., Balliol Coll., Oxon, 1849, a student of Lincoln's Inn 5 June, 1849, went to the Inner Temple 26 May, 1852, where he was called to the bar 7 June, 1852, Q.C. 11 June, 1869, bencher of the Inner Temple 31 May, 1870 (3rd son of Sir Ralph Lopes, of Maristow, Devon, Bart.); born 3 Oct., 1828; married 20 Sept., 1854, Cordelia Lucy, eldest dau. of Erving Clarke, Esq., of Efford Manor, Devon, and has issue (see Foster's Baronetage).
