McLaren, Charles Benjamin Bright, M.P. Stafford since 1880, a member of the Northern circuit, M.A. (1st class honours) Edinburgh Univ. 1870, Fergusson and Baxter philosophical scholar 1871 and Hamilton scholar, and Tyndale-Bruce prizeman in metaphysics, educated at Bonn and Heidelberg Univs., a student of Lincoln's Inn 21 May, 1870 (then aged 20), called to the bar 17 Nov., 1874 (3rd son of Duncan McLaren, of Edinburgh, M.P.); born 12 May, 1850; married 6 March, 1877, Laura Elizabeth, only dau. of Henry Daviss Pochin, Esq., of Bodnant Hall, Conway, sometime M.P. Stafford.
