Tyrwhitt, Robert Philip, metropolitan police magistrate 1847-71, author of Summary of the Law of Modern Pleading, editor of Dickinson's Quarter Sessions, 6th edn., and of Reports in the Exchequer of Pleas, etc., a student of the Middle Temple 6 June, 1817, called to the bar 11 Feb., 1825 (eldest son of Richard Tyrwhitt, Esq., of Farmcott, near Bridgnorth, Salop); born 15 July, 1798; married 30 Sept., 1824, Catherine Wigley, dau. of Henry St John, Esq.; she died 14 Nov., 1863, leaving 3 sons (see Foster's Baronetage).
