Villiers, Rt. Hon. Charles Pelham, P.C, M.P. Wolverhampton since 1835 (elected South Lancashire in 1847), M.A., St. John's Coll., Camb., 1827, an examiner in chancery 1833-52, judge advocate-general 1852-8, president of the Poor Law Board 1859-66, J.P., D.L. Herts, P.C. 1853, raised to the rank of an earl's son by royal warrant 1839, was a commissioner of inquiry into the operation of the poor laws, a student of Lincoln's Inn 13 May, 1823 (then aged 21), called to the bar 25 May, 1827 (3rd son of Hon. George Villiers, M.P.); born 3 Jan., 1802 (see Foster's Peerage, E. Clarendon).
