Wells, Sir Mordaunt Lawson, serjeant-at-law, knighted 30 Dec., 1858, puisne judge at Calcutta 1858-63, member of legislative council of India in 1862, recorder of Bedford 1855-8, went the Norfolk circuit, a student of the Middle Temple 22 Jan., 1838, called to the bar 29 Jan., 1841, serjeant-at-law 15 April, 1856 (2nd son of Samuel Wells, Esq., of London); born 29 Sept., 1817; married 1st, 8 Sept., 1840, Charlotte Mary, 3rd dau. of Thomas Gresham, Esq., of Barnby Don, Yorks; she died 5 Jan., 1860; he married 2ndly, 30 Dec., 1872, Mary Elizabeth, dau. of late Thomas William Ramsden, Esq., and has issue (see Foster's Baronetage).
