Wood, Sir Charles Alexander, deputy chairman Great Western Railway, commissioner of emigration 1859-74, knighted 21 Feb., 1874, J.P. Middlesex and co. Brecon, a student of the Inner Temple 22 April, 1828, called to the bar 12 June, 1835 (3rd son of Thomas Wood, Esq., of Littleton, Middlesex); born 11 Nov., 1810; mar. 25 June, 1838, Sophia, dau. of late John Studholme Brownrigg, Esq., M.P., and has issue (see Foster's Baronetage).
