Napoleon to his brother Joseph Bonaparte, Charleroi, 16 June 1815

Napoleon to Joseph Bonaparte, Charleroi, 16 June (1815)
by Napoleon

French original, and a software translation into English. Charleroi, morning of 16 June 1815

For the death of General Louis-Michel Letort see Action at Gilly (15 June 1815).

Joseph Bonaparte was in Paris (see Bonaparte, Joseph, Appleton's) the President of the Council of Ministers. It may have been the post script to this letter Letort va mieux (Probably hand written by Napoleon himself), that caused Letort’s wife to leave Paris on the 19 June for Charleroi.(Wit 2016, pp. 4–5 footnote 16 cites Journal de Paris, nr.170, dated 19 June 1815).

Mon Frère, My Brother,
I carry my headquarters to Fleurus. We are in great movement. I regret very much the loss of General Letort. The loss of yesterday's day is not considerable and carries almost all on the four squadrons of service. The confiscation of the property of the treaties forming assemblies at Ghent is necessary.
