When any public charity required assistance, he was always to the fore, and his acts of benevolence and kindness will be long remembered. For a considerable time Dr. Gunson had been in failing health, suffering principally from heart disease. He was constantly visited by all the leading medical men of Adelaide, who in his case were unable to effect a cure. He left a widow and three sons.
