6043. Criminal jurisdiction.
When justices shall keep their offices. s. 1, Jus. C.
§ 6041. Justices of the peace must keep their offices and hold their courts at some place selected by them, in their respective townships and c0unties, in and for which they may be elected, and these courts are always open for the transaction of business.

Civil jurisdiction of courts of justices of the peace classified and limited. s. 2, Jus. C.
§ 6042. The civil jurisdiction of these courts, within their respective counties, extends:
1. To an action arising on contract, for the recovery of money only, where the sum claimed does not exceed one hundred dollars.
2. To an action for damages for injury to the person, or for taking or detaining personal property, or for injuring personal property, or for an injury to real property, where the title or boundary of such real property does not in anywise come in question, and where the damages claimed do not exceed one hundred dollars.
3. To an action for a fine, penalty or forfeiture, not exceeding one hundred dollars. given by statute or the ordinance of an incorporated city or town.
4. To an action upon a bond or undertaking conditioned for the payment of money, not exceeding one hundred dollars, though the penalty exceed that sum., the judgment to be given for the sum actually due. When the payments are to be made by installments, an action may be brought for each installment as it becomes due.
