R. s. 68 וכ׳ לב עולים one goes up to the basil. and finds the King holding court. Ex. R. s. 15; Tanh. Haye 3 וכ׳ ב׳ אצל שמא per- haps he wanted me to wait for him near the basilica. (on the forum). בסים, בסימא m.. בסימא, בסימתא f. (בסם) boiled, ripe, whence 1) (Var. בסים, בסים, בסימא) sweett, pleasant, well- seasoned &c. (vwh. ערב). Targ. Ps. CXLI, 2 (h. text ערב, translated in both senses); a. fr. -- Keth. 104a top אוירא וב׳ דמדליא which lies high and whose air is pleasant (temperate). R. Hash. 21a וכ׳ תבשילא ב׳ (Ms. M. 2 margin ב׳ כמה; v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 80) how well tastes the food of the Babylonians on the day when in Palestine they observe the Day of Atonement B. Mets. 60a ב׳ הוה לא (the wine) was not good. Ib. 69b וכ׳ דב׳ דאיכא that there is good and bad wine. בסימא, בסמא m. (v. preced. 2) fermenting wine. wine turned into vinegar. Lam. R. to III, 40 דעולית׳ אין חמיע בסימא מרירן Ar. (ed. חמיע דסימא ב׳ כרנבי אית; read דכר׳ אין, strike out דסימא) when the endive (the cabbage) is bitter, the fermenting wine turns sour (sin begets sin). Cant. R. end, if tthe vineyard is cot before its time, אפי׳ וכ׳ בסמיה even its vinegar is not good.
בסימה f. same. Y. Pes. III, beg. 29d formerly.A. the wine (in Judea) never turned sour, and they put n barley to make it sour, whence it was called דרומיא ב׳ Southern vinegar (fermentation,=h. האדומי חומן).
