סרי II, סרא (dialect. for סרח; cmp. פתי = פתח) 1) (cmp. סרח II) to become lax, feeble. Snh. 22a (vers. in Ar.) וכ׳ גנב ולא ס׳ חד when one is weak and steals no longer &c.; v. גבא. - 2) (cmp. סרח III) to decay, be spoiled; to smell ofensively. Targ. Ex. סרי m. (preced. wds.) stench; offense, sin. Cant. R. to I, 12 (expl. נרדי ib., v. נרד) ריחו נתן ססיריי my offense (the making of the golden calf) gave forth its odor. Yalk. Ex. 391 (ref. to Cant. l. c.) סיריו נתן נרדי לומר לו היה (not שנ׳) it ought to have read, my nard gave forth its stench'.
