שוח I (b. h.) to bend, sink. Hull. 27a וכ׳ ששח ממקום, v. חטא I. Ib. הוא ועומד שח והוא . .. שח where it bends' implies (that the limb which is to be cut) must be erect (when in its natural condition), but this (the tail) is al- ways hanging down. Y. Taan. II, 65a top בכולן לשוח צריך (or לשוח fr. שחח) he must bend down with all of them (he eighteen vertebre). Ber. 34a, v. שחה. Ab. V, 21 בן לשוח תשעים at ninety years (is the time) for being bentu. (perh. meant as noun לצוח). Midr. Till. to Ps. XLVIII עליו שח לבו his heart within him is bent (in grief over his sin); Yalk. ib. 755 סח (corr. acc.); a. fr. XVII, 2 אתה אבל . .. ש׳ ליקח . . . בתורה כתבת וכ׳ הרשעים מן ש׳ נוטל שאתה thou hast written in the Law (Ex. XXIII, 8), 'thou shalt take no briba, and they (men) are afraid to take presents and judge me, but thou who acceptest means of conciliation from sinners, such as repentance, good deeds, and prayer; let thy judgment go forth from before thee.
