מונבו. - 2) king of Egypt (Ptolemy II Philadelphus), dur-
ing whose reign the Septuagint is said to have been
produced. Treat. Sof'rim I, 7 המלך לת׳ . . בחמשה מעשה
וכ׳ it occurred that five elders wrote the Torah in Greek
for King Ptolemy, and that day was as ominous for Israel
as &c. Ib. 8 וכ׳ בת׳ מעשה שוב another time it occurred
that King P. assembled seventytwo elders &c.; Meg. 9a.

*תלמי f. (D~~~~n) nostril; (cmp. חוטם) snout, tube. Tosef. Mikv. IV, 8 וכ׳ הת׳ ומן לת׳ היוצא מעיין spring water that comes out through a snout, and flows from the snout. into a pond.
תלמיד m. (b. h.; למד) scholar, disciple. Y. Shek. III, beg. 47b, a. e. ות׳ חבר; B. Bath. 158b חבר ת׳, v. חבר. Erub. 63a וכ׳ שניהם ותלמידו הרב ובנו האב a father and his son, or a teacher and his pupil have only one vote. Snh. 11a עזרא של תלמידו a disciple (worthy successor) of Eara. Ab.
