Septimus Burt, who was educated at Shaw Hcjuse, Jrelksham, Wilts, England, and at Bishop's School, Perth, Western Australia, was called to the colonial Bar, 1870. He was member of the Legislative Council 1874-tlO, and of the Legislative Assembly since that year. He was acting attorney- general in 1886, and member of the E-Kecutive Council, and, in the Forrest Ministry, was the first attorney-general of Western Australia, nnder responsible government, from December, 1890, and still holds that oHic,'. In 1887 he was made a Q.C. He was one of the two repre.-ientatives of Western Australia at the Colonial Conference in Loudon in 1887. He is senior p.rtner in the firm of Stone and Burt. Ilincanc. Georoe Henry Burt went from England to the Island of Montserrat, and from there to St. Xitts, and was for many years Speaker of the House of Assembly of the Island of 8t. (.'hristDpher, West Indies, and proprietor of Brothorson's estate there ; he m. 180S, Eliza Anno Mc Fair, and rf. 10th October, 1852, having by her, who d. 22nd May, 1835, had issue a son, Sir Archibald Paull Btrt, chief justice of Western Australi:!, formerly of the Glen, Basseterre, St. Kitts, WesI Indies, imd later of Strawberry UiU, Perlh, Western Australia, J. 1810, educated at Kielnnonil, called to the bar of the .Middle Temple, 1845, was attorney- general of the Island of St. Christoplier, 1849- tiO, and sometime acting chief justice. He was Speaker of the House of Assembly in that Island, a member of the Legislative" and Executive Council there, and a member of the administrative committee, and chancellor of the diocese of Antigua and the Leeward Islands. He was commissioner of the civil court in Western Australia, and chairman of Quarter Sessions from 18ti0-l, and chief justice of Western Anstralia, 181J1-79. He was knighted in 1873. He m. 4th ,Iune, 1836, Louisa Emily, diiughterof John Huvan, M.D. of St. Kitts', West Indies, and ,/. 2 1st November, 18"il, liaving by her, who (/. 20th September, 1870, bad issue, I. George Henry, m. 30th November, 1850, Ellen Ju.aip, of Jamaica, and has surviving issue, two sons and three daughters, of whom, t. Jlarv Louisa. 2. Alice lOliza. II.
