Mrs. Barclay Allardice was divorced from her luisband in September, 1793, and m. 5th August, 1795, at Christ Church, Surrey, John NuDD, of that par'sh. She d. 7th July, 1833, and was buried at Sprowston, co. Nor- folk. The eldcft surviving son, Robert Barclay Allardice, of Allar- dice and l.^rie. Captain 23rd Regiment, a celebrated amateur pedestrian, h. 25th August, 1779, was served heir male to his father, 17th December, 1799, and to his mother, 9th November, 18-13, and had a charter of the barony of Allardice, &c., 2nd June, 1800. He being heir general, and of line, of William, first Earl of Airth, claimed the earldoms of Strathern, Monteith and Airtli, as sole heir of Pnnce David, son of Robert II, King of Scotland, but the House of Lords came to no decision. He m. 1815, Mary, daughter of Alexander Dalgarno, of Aberdeen, and d. 1st May, 1854, having by her, who d. 1820, liad an only child, Margaret Barclay Allardice, heiress of line, who claimed as such the earldoms of Strathern, Monteith and Airth, before the House of Lords, in 1870. She was served heir general to her father, 1859, in the Sheriff Court of Kincaidineshire. She was b. 4th July, 1816, m. first, at St. Mary's Parish Church, Kensington, Middlesex, 2nd April, 1810, Samuel Ritchie, son of Duncan Ritchie (and May Hay, his wife), and by him, who was born 13th August, 1813, and d. 17th September, 1845. has issue, I. Robert Barclay, the subject of this memoir. II. Sanniel Frederick, b. at Aberdeen, 15th October, 1^43, d. unm. at Brook- lyn, New York, U.S.A., 14th April, 1862. III. David Stuart, of 44, Belmont Avenue, Providence, Rhode Island, U.S.A., b. 21st November, 1845, at Duddingston, Midlothian, m. at West Brattleboro', Vermont, U.S.A., 15th October, 1S68, Fannie Foster, daugh- ter of Edwin Day Elliot, of West Brattleboro', and has issue, 1.
