In 1878 Sir William proceeded on a special mission to Siam to invest the King as G.C.M.G., on which occasion His Majesty conferred upon him the Grand Cross of the Order of the Crown of Siam, which decoration the Queen has authorised him to wear. He was Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Western Australia, 1880-2 ; of South Australia, 1882-9 ; acting Governor of Victoria, 1890 ; and is now, for the third time. Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Western Australia. He was created C.M.G. 1873, K.C.M.G., 1877, and G.C.M.G., 1887. Itincacir. Bryan Robinson, supposed to be of the family of Newbv Hall, Yorkshire, was father of, Christophee Robinson, M.D., who was buried at St. Audoen's, Dublin, 17th January, ]688, leaviug bj Mary, liis wife, a daughter (Mary, buried at St. Audoen's, 6th March, 1682-3), and a son and heir, Betan Robinson, M.B. Trinity College, Dubhn, 1709; M.D. 1711 ; anatomy lecturer and Regius professor of physic, 1745-54. He d. in January, 1754, having had three sous, I. Cheistophee, his heir. II. Robert, ]I.D., state physician, 1742- 70; m. Elizabctli, only child of Thomas Lyst EE, of Lysterfield, CO. Ros- common, and left an only chUd, Eliza- beth, who m. 25th May, 1785, Freder- ick Teench, of Woodlawn, co. Gal- way, M.P. (created Baeon Ashtown, 27th December, 1800), and d. s. p. 1844, her husband haying predeceased her, 1st May, 1840, when the title devolved upon liis nephew Frederick Mason Teench (seeJivu's.^'s.Peei-age). Cueistophee Robinson, of Newby Lodge, second justice of the King's Bench in Ireland, was h. 1716; called to the bar at King's Inns, Dublin, 1737; K.C. 1744; and appointed a Justice of the King's Bencli, 1758 ; m. May, 1758, Elizabeth, daughter of the Rev. Hai-tstonge Maetin, of Kilkenny, by Sarah, his wife, third daughter of Sii- Henry Wemts, of Dancsfort, M.P. co. Kilkenny, and d. January, 1787, having had three sons, I. Bryan, d. before his father, uiim. II. Hartstonge, d. before his father, uiim. III. Cueistophee (Rct.), liis heii'. The youngest son. Rev. Cueistophee Robinson, M.A., rector of Ahern, diocese of Cloyne (1789- 1806), and afterwards rector of Granard, co. Longford ; graduated B.A. Trinity College, Dublin, 1783; M.A., 1786; m. 1786, Eliza- beth, second daughter of the Right Hon. Sir Hercules Langeishe, first Bart, of Knock- topher, CO. Kilkenny {see Bueke's Peerage and Baronetage), M.P. for the borough of Knocktopher in the Irisli Parliament, 1761- 1800; and d. 1837, having had issue, nine sons and three daughters, yiz., I. Christopher, d. iintn. II. Heecules, his heir. III. Hartstonge, called to the bar at King's Inns, Dublin,1814; Q.C., 1868; chairman of quarter sessions, co. Sligo ; w. 1844, Mary {d. 31st August, 1880), only child of the Rev. Joseph Boeeowes, fifth son of Sir Kildare Dixon Boeeowes, fifth Bart, of Gill- town (see Bueke's Peerage and Baronetage) , M.P., co. Kildare 1745- 60, and sheriff of Kildare in 1751, by Jane, his second wife, daughter of Joseijh HiGGiNSOX. of Moimt Opha- ley, CO. Kildare, and dying 23rd May, 1874, left a son and a daugliter, viz., Kildare Christopher, i. 18th April, 1847 ; called to the bar at the Inner Temple 1870; m. 17th February, 1881, Sarah Matilda, daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel Paton, of Grandhome, Aberdeen- shire, and by her (who d. 2nd January, 1882) had issue, a daugh- ter.
