Lanark, N.B., sometime Lieutenant 1st Regiment Royal Lanarkshire Light Infantry Militia, settled in Kingston, Canada, became Major 1st Regi- ment Frontenae Militia, and justice of the peace. He was b. in Kilbryde, Lanarkshire, N.B., 2nd September, 1788, went to Canada, and served during the war of 1812-1-i, as a Tolunteer in the Canadian Militia, at the battle of Lundies Lane and at Fort Erie ; at the close of the war he took up liis residence in Kingston, and represented the county in Parhanient, 1835-6. He m. 2nd February, 1818, May, daughter of William McGill, of Albany, U.S.A., and d. 14th October, 1840, having by her, who d. 25th May, 1867, had surviving issue, Sesidence — Kingston, Ontario, Canada, I. Maxwell William SxRANnE, of Kings- ton, Ontario, was b. 22nd Marcli, 1820, served in the Kingston Volunteer Rilles during the re- bellion 1837-8, aud was afterwards lieutenant- colonel in the Canadian Militia, com- manded the Cavalry, No. 3 Military District, and afterwards the Cavalry and Rilles, Kingston, Ontario ; he was a barrister-at-law, of Osgoode Hall, a justice of the peace and police magistrate for the city of Kingston, which he represented in the first Outarian Parliament, being returned in 1867. lie m. 20th September, 1849, Charlotte Anna, daughter of the late James Campbkli., Doctor of Medicine, and sister of the Hon.
