This family held lauds in Killaghter, under the Bishops of Raplioe, co. Donegal, Ireland, early in the IVtli century, but Cromwell's soldiers burnt all wills and leases in the diocesan registry, and documenlary evidence docs not extend farther back than about the year 1700, wlien Catherine Montgomery owned these lauds, wliieh are now in the possession of the Right Ecv. Bisliop Mont- gomery as head of the family. John Montoojieky, of Killaghter, said to be of the Lainshaw family, d. after 1722, and was father of Uatid Moxtgomebt, of Killaghter (will dated 20th April, 1732), who m. Mary, sister of EeT.
