If Mr. Ghose has full infoimation as to the arrest, and an affidavit as to the oir- cumstances on which he could basa his application, he is willing to apply to the High Court, and doubtless, be able to get him released on bail, and his case transferred. If you know any friends of Shyama Charan's, will you kindly tell them all this, and that Mr. Ghose, though very willing, can do nothing until properly instructed. On receipt of this letter which was addressed to us confidentially, we moved in the matter, and helped Babu Shyama Charan to be released on bail, . with the help of Babu Gyanendra Lai Roy m,a. b.l., then a pleader of Krishnaghur. Mr. Ghose then made a motion to the High Court on behalf of Babu Shyama Charan who was honorably acquitted of all the charges brought against him, and the Deputy-Magis- trate was censured and degraded. While we helped Shyama Charan, we incurred the wrath of the Deputy-Magistrate who, through the District Magistrate of Nuddea threatened us with the following letter : — EXTRACT FROM THE RAN AG HAT DEPUTY-MAGISTRATE'S Letter no. 133, Dated 1st April, 1880. " I have the honor to request that you will call upon Ram Gopal Sanyal to mate a statement as to whether he is or not the writer of the two letters from Krishnaghur which appeared in the Statesman newspaper of the 15th March, and the Hindoo Patriot of the 22nd March."
