Donald Gore.

"Don't bother me," says Kate, says she,
"Nor teaze me any more;
For, truth to speak, my heart will break,
And all for Donald Gore;
While he's away I can't be gay,
And smile and laugh like you;
May ill befall me once for all
If e'er I prove untrue.

"The birds sing sweetly on each tree,
The sun is shining bright;
All happy be, except poor me,
With whom 'tis ever night.
Oh! Donald Gore, dear Donald Gore,
For thee it is I pine!
There's not a feeling in my heart
But what is wholly thine.

"They tell me I do wrong to grieve
For one who's lost to me;
But Oh! I never can believe
'Tis wrong thus loving thee!
And still through life I'll love with truth,
Whatever may befall;
And when I die, thy form, dear youth,
Shall fade the last of all.
