The larger the hips, the fuller the lower edge must be. You remember the old joke about the stout woman’s skirt looking like a tent. Well, she had large hips and the skirt was circular.

Materials must be suited to the styles, too. All the style can be taken out of a new design and a modish material by matching them up wrongly. Style and material must hitch. They must belong together. Just the weight of the texture makes a difference.

A skirt with very much fullness at the top needs a thin or a pliant medium weight goods.
