Next stitch the sleeve to the armhole with lap-felled seam and join the sleeve and underarm seams in one continuous seam. This seam, too, is best finished lap-felled.
Gather the lower edge of the sleeve as shown in Fig. 17. Note that the fullness is thrown either side of the vent and not at the underarm seam; also that the extension at the back of the vent is turned back.
