In some of those cases the lengthening is due to contraction with y before the g hardening appeared. So tuagh, laogh, sluagh, sogh, righ ri gen., litig D. R. 91, but lyi, Dési, for the long vowel.
4. gh in inlaut is absorbed after a long vowel sound. stoghal ser, baoghal swet, soghach s6c, laghach tac.
