Begun in 1843, and has maintain- ed a steady circulation since, it contains besides a series of articles on natural history, philosophy, biography, extensive translations from the Vedas, Mahabharat, 700 copies monthly are circulated. It is the organ of the Vedantists, and holds a high place for the ability of its articles. 294. Upadesliak, begun 1846, by J. Wenger, b. m. p., monthly, 2 as. Started by the Baptist Association, for the Native Christians of their communion, who pledged themselves to its support; gives religious biography, comments on Scrip* ture, Missionary information and subjects of literature.
