Amphore. An auncient measure of about 36 quarts; it was commonly of earth, had two eares, and was a foot square euery way.
Amphytane. A square, and golden-coloured stone, of the nature of a Loadstone; or more powerfull; for it also drawes gold vnto it.

Amuseller. To muzzle; to close, or couer the mouth with a muzzle.
Amusement: m. An amusing, or amusement.
Amuser. To amuse; to make to muse, or thinke of; wonder, or gaze at; to put into a dumpe; to stay, hold, or delay from going forward by discourse, questions, or any other amusements. s'amuser sur la vinaigrette. To stand on trifles.
Amuseur. An amuser of people; one that holdeth folkes at gaze, or putteth them into dumps.
Amusoire: m. A thing to wonder at; a gazing stocke; a subiect, or cause, for amusement.

Amydon: m. Fine wheat flower steeped in water; then strained, and let stand vntill it settle at the bottome; then drained of the water, and dried at the Sunne;
vsed for bread, or in brothes it is very nourishing; also, starch made of wheat.

Anacampserote. A certaine hearbe whose touch renueth decayed loue betweene man and man (as some haue imagined.)
Anacarde: m. Th' East-Indian fruit called Anacardium, or Beane of Malaca. Anacardin: m. ine: f. Of Anacardium; whence; Miel anacardin. A certaine venomous, and causticke oyle found, between the kernell, and outward rinde, of th' Anacardium. Anacephaleose: f. A briefe rehearsall, a recapitulation of things spoken.
Anachorete: m. The Hermit called an Ankrosse, or Anchorite.
Anafile. as Agnafile. Anagal: m. The hearbe Pimpernell.
Anagnoste: m. A reader; a Clarke that reades to a writer; a boy that reades to his master, &c.
Anagrammatiser. To make an Anagram; to frame a conceit, or sentence, of the letters of a name set together.
Anagrammatisme. A making of Anagrams; or the art of making Anagrams.
Anagramme: m. An Anagram; a Sentence, Poesie, or pretie conceit framed of the letters of a name.
Anagyre. The plant called Beane Trifolie, or Pescod tree.
Analemme: m. An instrument whereby the course, and eleuation of the Sunne is found.
Analogie: f. An Analogie, example, proportion, similitude, conformitie, correspondencie, comparison.
Analogique: com. Analogicall; conformable vnto some other thing; answering in proportion vnto another thing; correspondent.
Analogiser. To compare, conforme, and ioyne, by affinitie or proportion, one thing with another.
Anangé. Fatall, or of destinie.
Anaphore. An ascention of the planets from the East, by daily course of the firmament; also, a figure called Repetition, when two verses begin with one word.
Anaporique. A kind of circular dyall for the Winter.
Anaquil. as Anafile. Anarche: com. Without kingdome, or commaund; without Prince; without beginning; licentious, vnbrideled, vnruled, vnruly.
Anarchie: f. An Anarchie; a Commonwealth without a head, or Gouernour; a confused state, wherein one is as good as another; also, want of gouernment, libertie, licentiousnesse, dissolutenesse.
Anarchique: com. Belonging to an Anarchie; without rule, gouernment; beginning, or order; dissolute, licentious.
Anastomose: f. The communication of veines with arteries, whereby they helpe one another.
