William Daniel, instituted 1527, on the presentation of the Convent of Leicester.
John Smith, inst. 1559, on the presentation of the Queen. (He was afterwards minister of St. Alban, Wood Street, London.)
John Barker, Fellow of Eton College, was in office 1572, Thomas Martin being his "minister and curate."
William Saunders, 1572-1607, presented by the Queen.
Richard Woodcock, B.D., 1607-1623, presented by Thomas Ashfield, Esquire.
Adam Langley, Fellow of St. John's College, Oxford; inst. 1623, on the presentation of Thomas Ashfield, Esquire.
Elkanah Gladman appears to have held both medieties in 1636, for he signed himself as "Minister of Chesham" on the Bishop's Transcript of that year.
CHESHAM WOBURN
John Sloe, (or Slow), instituted 1519, on the presentation of the Convent of Woburn.
John Peryn(ge), inst. 1557, on the presentation of Francis, Earl of Bedford.
John Smith, inst. 1559, on the presentation of the Queen, according to Lipscomb, but on that of the Earl of Bedford, according to others.
John Barker, (or Barber), Fellow of Eton College, inst. 1572, on the presentation of the Earl of Bedford. Thomas Martin was "minister and curate" under this vicar.
William Saunders, A.M., 1572-1607.
Richard Woodcock, B.D., 1607-1623.
Thomas Blechinden, Fellow of St. John's College, Cambridge; presented by Francis, Lord Russell, 1623.
Elkanah Gladman, as vicar, signed the Bishop's Transcript for the year 1626, and continued to hold office in 1636.
