proposed to connect it by rail with Kpong, on the bend of the Volta, 50 miles distant. Some 24 miles to the north lies the little health-resort of Aburi (Abudé), founded by the Basle mission, amid a forest of fruit trees over 1,300 feet above sea-level. Akropong, former capital of the Akwapem state, serves also as a sanatorium for the whites and a centre of instruction for the natives.
