Mansfield, Lieut.-General Sir William Rose, g.c.b., g.c.s.i., created D.C.L 22 June, 1870 (5th son of James Mansefield, of Diggeswell House, Herts), served in the Sutlej and Punjab campaigns, chief of the staff during Indian Mutiny, commander-in-chief India 1865-70, colonel 38th regiment 1862-6, created Baron Sandhurst 28 March, 1871, died 23 June, 1876.
