Of the culpability of James Allen's conduct in the outset of his married career there cannot be two opinions. The secret motives of the heart which induced so unnatural a resolve is now laid open before the tribunal of his Creator; but since it was the errors of a human being, and perhaps a deeply injured one, subject to all the frailties of humanity, as fellow-mortals, we are bound to balance the merits against the faults; and throw the pall of charity over her remains, and

"No farther seek her merits to disclose,
Or draw her frailties from their dread abode."

THE END.

A Morning Paper, of the 3d of the present month, thought proper to publish "Further Particulars of this Female Husband," the greater part of which is incorrect. In that article Mrs. Allen is said to have discontinued the name of Allen, and taken to her maiden name of Smith. Her maiden name was Naylor (vide the marriage certificate), which, however, she does not adopt, but retains that of Allen. It also asserts roundly, that the deceased had given birth to a child, now living, and upwards of twenty years of age. We have the evidence of Dr. Paul, the eminent surgeon, who has assured us most positively, that not the slightest proof existed upon the post mortem examination of the body, to induce a belief that the deceased had ever borne one; on the contrary, the surgeons present were satisfied that that was not the case.
