difficult to coax him to come to you and lay bare his thoughts before you, that it requires great patience and long time to understand him and then to express yourself to him in his own language, that his dialects vary from place to place, and then the intricacies and difficulties of the problem of learning and recording the languages of the hill and forest tribes will become manifest.
