First halfway warm day for several days (mid-50's predicted). The dead, dry weeds generally are matted down--runways show beneath in places. We've now had several warm (60's, 70's) days in a row and the wheat & grasses are greening up rapidly--the wheat is now very green. Cloudy today and very moist. Set out the traps just before dark. Rain shortly after dark. Locality here at Bird Farm is SE 1/4 Sec. 30, R18 W, T13 S, Ellis Co., Kans. 3 April Picked up traps. Two Sigmodon hispidus and 1 Mus musculus from weeds. Grackle seen--first noted this year. Junco, also seen. Mourning doves seen for first time recently. One trap entirely missing.
